What actually matters in this category

Mechanical action vs chemicals

Steam and agitation remove more than sprays alone. Chemistry supplements, it does not replace.

Heat for sanitation

Steam above 100°C sanitises. Cold mopping does not, regardless of the solution used.

Water tank and runtime

Larger tanks mean fewer refills, but add weight. Balance against how much floor you have.

Consumable cost

Pads, brushes and descaler add up. Check prices and availability before buying.

Surface compatibility

Steam damages some sealed wood and laminate. Check before using on your floors.

Buy if…

✓ Worth buying when

  • You have hard flooring that gets dirty daily
  • You want to sanitise without strong chemicals
  • You have pets or small children and clean often
  • You want to reduce the effort in routine cleaning

✗ Skip it when

  • Your floors are unsealed wood or sensitive laminate
  • You want one device to do everything — specialised tools do one job better
  • You will not maintain pads and brushes
